Roman Reigns returned to provide us with an update on his condition. And the crowd, for once, did not boo him. They rained praise upon Reigns, who told the WWE Universe that his cancer was in remission for now.

But I have cause to believe that it’s only a matter of time before the WWE Universe turns on him again. I will detail the reasons for the same in the comments section.

Let me know your thoughts and views in the comments section below.

#5 It’s still the same guy

The main reason why Roman Reigns was booed is because of his limitations as a performer. And this will not miraculously change because he beat leukaemia, unfortunately. Roman Reigns will continue to be a performer who has massive limitations when reciting lines scripted by others.

The funny thing is that Roman Reigns actually sounds a lot more genuine and heartfelt when he is himself. As we saw in the segment where he relinquished the title and the one this week, he can be a good promo when he is himself. Unfortunately, we rarely see this side of him.

The crowd will start to turn on The Big Dog as the weeks pass and it becomes clearer that this man is still Vince McMahon’s anointed golden boy. Maybe a heel turn could help in this regard, if WWE wants to go down that route in the future.

#4 He will continue to be booked as Superman

It is a rare sight indeed to ever see The Big Dog take a pin and therefore, anyone who scores one on him gets a massive rub. Roman Reigns is not returning to the roster as a mid-card performer. He is returning as the top guy again and he will continue to be booked like Superman once more, I’m certain.

The fact of the matter is that the WWE Universe loves to support the underdogs. Why else do you think that Daniel Bryan’s rise to the top is the greatest WWE angle of the modern era in the eyes of so many? Roman Reigns has always represented the corporate side of the business and this rubs many fans the wrong way.

Just wait till Reigns scores a victory over Aleister Black or Johnny Gargano. The IWC will be up in arms again. Yes, I mean you, dearest reader!

#3 The age of white-meat babyfaces is long gone

One just needs to look at Becky Lynch to get a sense of what I’m trying to say. She was always a favourite of the WWE Universe back when she was a nice guy, but ever since her transformation into ’the man’, her popularity has just skyrocketed significantly.

Roman Reigns, for some odd reason, is shown to be a hero for children, instead of the tough Samoan man like he should be. And the WWE Universe wants to see this side of him, the silent killer who does not care about kissing babies.

This is a man who has beaten cancer to come back to WWE and reclaim what he dubs his yard. Why would you want to see him as anything but the tough man that he is?

There’s always a disconnect with WWE Creative and the WWE Universe in this particular regard.

#2 WWE Creative’s track record hasn’t been the best

Look no further than Dean Ambrose if you want proof of what I’m saying. Dean Ambrose was part of perhaps the best heel turn since Kevin Owens turned on Chris Jericho, during the ‘Festival of Friendship’ segment. The entire WWE Universe believed that we were in for something special in the weeks that would follow.

Much to their dismay and disappointment, the subsequent run was a complete dud. Roman Reigns is on top of the world right now, returning home after he beat his unfortunate ailment. But knowing how WWE has been booking their Superstars in recent times, I do not have high hopes for The Big Dog, really.

Of course, I hope that I’m wrong and that WWE does hit the ball out of the park with Roman Reigns. They need to seize this opportunity and write good storylines for the Big Dog, in coming weeks.

#1 He’ll be back in the Universal Championship hunt very soon indeed

A lot of people were upset with Reigns because he seemed to get all the opportunities ahead of other Superstars. And why wouldn’t he? Not only does he look like a million bucks, but he also has a work ethic that few can match. He rarely ever gets into trouble and is a loving father and husband to boot.

Seth Rollins is all geared up to be Universal Champion next. The WWE Universe loves him to bits and I dare say that he may even be better in the ring than Roman Reigns is, by a pretty big margin. And it may upset the WWE Universe if Reigns is inserted into the Universal Championship picture soon after his return.

If Rollins and Reigns are feuding, ’the guy’ needs to go heel. If he does so, this could be the feud of the year.

Do you see the crowd turning on Reigns soon?
